week 13

yesterday in the salon was really good was quiet busy they had hightlights in cuts perms sets i helped out with the hightlights pulling them threw and washing it off and did her blowdry linda was showing me how to do it properly as the client had very fine hair and wanted to achive some voulume at the sides and back she showed me to turn the brush right underthe hair and put the hairdryer under to give lift and not to brush it out , i all ready knew that but the way she showed me was fantastic , she told be to do the sides and her fringe first before it dyerd in, it helped me out so much, i thought i was doing well with my blowdrys at college but still no where near hairdressing standers yet but cant wait really know what im doing, im getting a lot better doing reception dutes taking calls and appointments , the clients loves me washing their hair for them said i had lovley massage tequnices i was chuffed!! the day went so fast i have really enjoyed my time working at the salon and ive gave linda the salon manager my fone number and hopefully she will have me in over the summer helping out, she was really nice yesterday said it was a pleasure having me linda and anglea where a delight to work with and i hope i can go back to do my placement in level 3 , its been a great experiance and i have learned a lot in the 13 weeks that ive been there, was sad to leave yesterday but im sure ill be back there really soon. ive really enjoyed telling every thing about my blog ad its helped me look back and see what ive done in the time ive been there, debs

week 12

hey there, today in the salon was really busy i was on my feet most of the day helping linda and angela there where 4 colours in today helped pick them out but im not allowed to mix them as yet, i did most of the washing of hair and washing the coulours of the clients taking out rollers helping to put them in and setting up for the next client wouldent say i did much in the way of blow drying hair just mostly helped round the salon putting things away and greeting the clients taking a few appointments the morning flew in, i enjoyed been busy and chatting to the clients i was finished before i knew it today and was really knackerd by the time i had finished been a hairdresser isent easy as im begining to now know lol. but it has not put me off in any way so far so good, and silly me i thought this was my last week in my placement i got my dates mixed up i was telling everyone that it was untill i saw in my comment sheet that it wasent we all had a good laugh about it tho, i left linda all my details she said that i could come in and help out over the summer when they are busy so all good, im sure next week is my last think my head is a bit pickeld as we are nearing the end of the course well thats all for this week untll next... debs

week 11 all most over

today in the salon was so quiet had 3 clients in today so me and anglea the other girl who works there just cleaded up the whole salon washing brushes out rollers ect it was just blowdrys in today so not got a lot to report really, all tho i did get a tuison head out and was just messing about putting hair up linda was showing me differnt syles to do all back combing to hold it in properly, i made my own style up did lots of barrels i love doing hair up and would love to see more of it been done with in the salon or college its one thing im so intrested in just love all the diffent looks you can achive, id love to do hairup for weddings things like that, just got one week left at my placement. have to say tho ive really enjoyed it but its not been that busy since ive been there and can make it a very long day when your standing around trying to find somethings to do, i cant expect much though as im just tranning and cant wait to become a proper hairdresser and have my own clients linda has been fantastic with me, and she said i could come and help out over the summer period if and when she needs me so here is hoping, well sorry but thats all ive got to say this week. debs

week 10

yesterday at the salon was busyish linda let me apply a coulor did a full regroth linda was very pleased with the way i applyed it, and the coulor turned out lovely she was very delighted with it, watched linda do a clients hair she came in with long hair id say longer than a bob but the client wanted it really short so i just watched her she makes it so so easy she did a short graduation and a uniform layer was very instesting watching her at work she all so used the razor at the nape of the neck and round the ears she pushed the hair all diffrent angles to achive the look she wanted she was very pleased with the end result . the rest of the day was just sets blowdrys and a perm i did help with the perm rinsed it off and took out the perm rods. mostly i was watching linda at work and helping out with taking appointments and cleaning of the salon. really enjoyed it tho and the clients are just lovely they are getting to know me now witch is good, one client said she just loves the way i wash her hair. so all and all was a good day and see what next week brings for me.. debs

week 9

i wasent at my placement today as i am totaly loaded with the cold and did not want to infect any one dont think they would be to pleased with me if they came down with what ive got, been this way since sunday but feeling a lot better today than ive done all week. but ive been practicing on my tuistion head this week trying to do hair up but with not much luck but going to keep trying, look forward to next week and hopefully linda will have a few things for me to do. debs

week 8

Today in the salon was pritty much as the same as last week, getting to know the clients really well now it was a steady pace today just cuts and blow drys and set one coulor came in, i mainly just watched linda the salon owner at work and taking in how she works with her cuts and angles wasent a lot for me to do really just did the ushall cleaned up made tea coffee ect, taking appointments linda did say that maybe next week i could do apply a coulor so she sees how i work and could bring someone in, but unfortunatly most of my freinds and family work in the day time so unsure what im going to do, i want to do more things with in the salon as it can be a very long day just standing about and not doing much, all tho im still enjoying my time their just hopefully i can do a bit more next week and find someone to bring in, i keep for getting to bring in my camera but i shall next week and let you see the salon i work in and maybe one of me at work hopefully, (fingers crossed!!!) well im afaid thats all ive got to say today really untill next week. debs

week 7

well first day back at my placement after having 3 weeks off, it was quiet today just a steady flow of clients really with cut and blowdrys and a few sets, i dident really do that much today just the ushall cleaning of the salon and making tea and coffee , was watching linda cutting and razor cutting a clients hair what a lovely job she did of it and makes it so easy to look at, christine came up for a little while to see how i was getting on, i had a chat to the salon owner about if she ever needed me in over the summer months to help out and she gladly said yes to me helping out one of the girls is taking 3 weeks off so i said id go in for her was very pleased that she offerd me it, and im really looking forward to starting in july she said she would let me apply coulors and do a little more round the salon, as im not on her insured and she dident want me to do any thing like that incase of any accidents but said she would put me on the insurece so i can do more, and i cant wait to do so, i can understand why im not allowed to do any thing, its mostly blowdrys ive been doing but be good to get stuck in and really help out, still enjoying it very much tho,, but not much to tell today really, debs.

just a little update

well unfortunealty i can not make my placement this thursday as my other half has booked a suprise weekend away for me as its my 40th birthday on friday and did not know any thing about it, but cant wait to go back as it will have been 3 weeks since the last time i was there. be finishing up before i know it shame really but still looking forward to going back next week and hopefully will learn a lot more just have to get this week out the way first and forget im 40 and pretend am still 30 lol.. debs

week 3

Today at my placement was rather quiet, had a few clients in the morning and a few in the afternoon, all tho i enjoyed it linda the salon owner had me booked in with a client to see how good i am with blowdrying hair, i was very pleased that she had did that for me, i sat my client down and asked her what she wanted done it was really straight forward she had a short style bob her hair was really straight as well and she wanted lots of volume in it witch i did, i used a large round brush i put her hair into sections and really gave her root lift, took me about 20minutes or so to do so, the end result was really good, my client was very pleased with it and even said that was the best she had done in a long time, linda all so was really pleased with the way i did her hair, i just used a little hairspray as she did not want any other product on her hair. i watched a few cuts short graduations being done as well as long graduations, its very helpfull watching her at work and helpfull to my self by just standing and watching. there was a young gentalman that came into the salon as well, he had very thick wavy hair and wanted a lot of it, linda used thinning scissors to take most of the bulk away and then did a short uniform layer it looked fantastic in the end, i sat and went threw the coulor shades with linda and trying to learn what types of diffrent tones go with what coulor , found it really intresting as i need more practice with these's things. i dident know that you could get a red bleach its great to learn something new and how very diffrent things are with in the salon, over all was enjoyable and just helped out with taking appointments , cleaning round salon making tea and coffee and having a nice chat with the clients linda is very helpfull with me and has showed me a lot in such a short space of time. i wont be at my placement next week as linda said its not going to be busy and she is closing early, and the following week i cant make it as im doing family things for easter, but cant wait to go back in 2 weeks time. debbie

another day in my placement

second week in my placement! today was pretty quiet it was mostly sets and perms cut and blowdrys, i watched my boss linda do cuts a short graduation and how she did it very diffrent from the way we do it at college, was very intresting watching her tho and how easy she made it seem. i have still so much to learn with my cuts as yet, she all so was showing me how to do a perm as i'm not that confident in doing them as yet, but in time i hope to be. she was all so showing me to do hair up witched i loved, i mainly just took out rollers today and lots of washing hair, and just cleaning round the salon and taking appointments. the clients are really freindly as well, over all i enjoyed it today. linda said that she would let me blowdry hair next week would say im really enjoying my experience so far and willing to learn so much more in the weeks that follow. debbie

started my new placement today in combs in kilmacolm, and found it really good as been the new girl there i was a little nervous, but was made really welcome by the girls who work there and the boss linda , i started off getting shown about and getting the feel on the place and where every thing was kept, i started off by taking appointments and greeting the clients, for most of the day i washed colour of hair. cleaning the floors folding towels and hanging them up, sweeping floors, all the things that follow within a salon, watched my boss linda do colours sets perms and cuts!.. and got to know how the salon was run and what to expect with in the coming weeks ahead, i will be taking some pictures and posting them very soon, maybe i shall post some of me working on my blog if i get the nerve too!!.. over all had a really pleasant day and look forward to next week.

new placement

welcome to my new blog. i will be starting my new placement in a little village in kimlacolm called comes. looking really forward to it and learning new skills and meeting new clients i will let you know how my progress is coming along in the coming months ahead.
